Cruising again with Six Word Saturday
A day is spent cruising Fiordland.
Milford Sound is the best known of the fiords on New Zealand’s south west ‘corner’. It is accessible by road. Milford Sound is the wettest place in New Zealand, with mean annual rainfall of 6411 mm (252 inches)! Entering around 07:00 am, we were very fortunate!
Doubtful Sound is accessed by entering Thompson Sound, while later Dusky Sound is entered via Breaksea Sound and the Acheron Passage. These pristine waters are only accessible by sea or air.

Cruising along with Six Word Saturday
Needed more than six this week!
Queen Elizabeth, like most cruise ships, cannot always berth in the centre of cities. This is overcome by transferring, by tender, those wishing to go ashore. On this ship a rule, strictly enforced, is that passengers must be able to clear a gap of 18 inches unaided. This is not about boarding the tender alongside ship, where a gangway is provided. Rather it is to cater for the shore end, where there may be a gap, not to mention movement, at the landing place. Every passenger wishing to go ashore must therefore pass the step test under close scrutiny!
